Charlie Hall's footage in BACON GRABBERS (1929) was edited down after two previews, so that what is depicted here does not correspond exactly to the filmed version released to movie houses and which survives today. Long ago, the film's director, Lewis R. Foster, told me about several unusual sequences filmed for but ultimately trimmed from the final cut. Which possibly explains why Roach did not retain Foster's services as a director beyond this final season's issue of silent comedies. The carbon tissue on the back of this vintage still photo carries the original caption as follows: "Scene from the Hal Roach-M.G.M.-Laurel and Hardy comedy, BACON GRABBERS (with) Charlie Hall, Stan Laurel, and Oliver Hardy."
